Liberland algorithm elects Justin Sun as prime minister for fifth time

Image
Controversial crypto billionaire Justin Sun has been elected Liberland prime minister for the fifth time since the micronation began carrying out blockchain-based elections last year.  The territory, which is nestled between Serbia and Croatia and holds an election every three months, announced the results of Wednesday’s vote today.  Alongside Sun, Cambridge Analytica whistleblower, Brittany Nicole Kaiser, was elected as “congresswoman.”  Justin Sun is at the top right of Liberland’s graph of staked tokens vs score. Read more: Justin Sun represents 99.9% of blacklisted World Liberty tokens To vote in Liberland’s elections, citizens must first stake the governance token Liberland Merits (LLM). They then choose which candidates they want to vote for and their tokens are “proportionally” allocated using the “Pergamon algorithm.”  Liberland says this distribution of staked LLM helps “ promote fair representation across all voters .”  Sun is not...

HTX receives $500M USDT infusion then sends it away

Justin Sun-advised HTX recently received $500 million worth of Tether (USDT), which it quickly moved between addresses and then distributed to various non-HTX addresses.  HTX distributes a tool to help verify its proof-of-reserves process, and a review of that address shows that as of January 1, HTX disclosed $696 million total USDT. This was largely made up of $552 million USDT-aETHUSDT — Tether lent on AAVE — meaning HTX only had approximately $145 million USDT that wasn’t lent out. That is until yesterday when it received $500 million directly from the Tether Treasury to TDToUxX8sH4z6moQpK3ZLAN24eupu2ivA4. This address was included in the HTX proof-of-reserves but wasn’t previously listed on the proof-of-reserves document as a USDT address. Former CoinDesk exec calls out Justin Sun at Davos awards

Justin Sun was called out during a spin-off Davos award event by a former CoinDesk exec Michael Casey who was unhappy with how the Tron founder managed to get the crypto publisher to remove an article.  The Davos 2025 Most Influential Awards, handed out as part of the 2025 AI & Crypto Summit, piggybacked off CoinDesk’s own 2024 Most Influential list. Sun not only won one of the awards but was also the focus of its press release.  However, despite this, another winner, CoinDesk’s former Chief Content Officer, Casey, took the opportunity to rip into Sun and CoinDesk owner Bullish over its removal of an article covering Sun’s $6 million purchase of a piece of art that consists basically of a banana taped to a wall. Justin Sun complaint leads to CoinDesk removing banana article The article, titled “I Watched Justin Sun Eat the World’s Most Expensive Banana. I Don’t Get It” details journalist Callan Quinn’s experience of watching Sun devour the $6.2 m...

Justin Sun proposes billion-dollar fund to save crypto

In another attempt to garner attention — much like his offer to buy Bitcoin from the German government, purchase TRON from holders on FTX, and otherwise throw money at numerous projects in the cryptocurrency industry — TRON creator Justin Sun is now, apparently keen to start a billion-dollar fund to save the entire space from self-immolation in the midst of a 20% drawdown of the price of most tokens, including bitcoin. Don't worry! The industry has grown significantly over the past year, and this market fluctuation isn't due to negative news. We should reject FUD and keep building. That's why we're creating a $1 billion fund to combat FUD, invest more, and provide liquidity. — H.E. Justin Sun 孙宇晨 (@justinsuntron) August 5, 2024 The offer, whether real or fictional, comes in the wake of a broader financial correction that’s seen the Japanese Nikkei Tron g>lose 20% Tron g> — all gains year-to-date — in a few days, and other important ind...
