Binance Labs denies participation in SkyArk Chronicles’ $15M funding round

Binance Labs says it was “unware” of SkyArk Chronicles’ $15 million funding round and that it did not participate as the AAA gaming platform claimed. SkyArk Chronicles has apologized for the “miscommunication”. Binance Labs has refuted claims that it participated in the gaming platform SkyArk Chronicles’ latest financing round. The venture capital arm of crypto exchange Binance released a statement on Monday distancing itself from SkyArk Chronicles’ $15 million funding, noting that the only participation it had was in the incubation of the project in 2021. Metallica backs Medallion in $13.7m funding round 

The family investment firm of rock band Metallica is participated in a Series A funding round for Medallion, an artist-to-fan platform that aims to help artists build relationships with fans.  Black Squirrel Partners, a firm founded in 2020 by band members of Metallica, was one of several backers in the Dragonfly and Lightspeed Faction-led effort. Other investors include Coinbase Ventures, Infinite Capital, J17, The Chernin Group, Third Prime, and Zeal Capital. Medallion, a direct-to-consumer platform led by former Songkick CEO Matt Jones, is focused on strengthening artist-fan connections. The startup secured $13.7 million, according to Billboard.  In addition to Metallica, the venture round included other music industry veterans: Bill Silva Entertainment, Disclosure’s Guy Lawrence, Foundations Artist Management, Jungle, Mt. BitGo raises $100M after losing lawsuit against Galaxy

BitGo’s Series C funding featured entirely new investors based in the United States and Asia, CEO Mike Belshe said. Cryptocurrency custody platform BitGo has raised fresh capital after facing a series of terminated deals involving firms such as Michael Novogratz’s Galaxy Digital. BitGo has raised $100 million in a Series C financing round bringing the company’s valuation to $1.75 billion, the firm announced to Cointelegraph on Aug. 16. The newly raised funds will be deployed to make strategic acquisitions and expand BitGo’s secure and regulated custody, wallet and infrastructure solutions globally. BitGo CEO Mike Belshe noted that the new funds will help the firm to meet the growing demand for custody and provide institutions and companies with tools to participate in the crypto industry. So far in 2023, BitGo has seen a 60% increase of new clients and 40x growth in staked assets, the firm said.
